The tale of the tea party The Boston Tea Party is a well known incident in the annals of American history. All that people know is that crates of tea were thrown out by Americans upset with the British colonial policy of taxing imported goods. That however is only one part of the story. There are some interesting facts attached to this episode. Here we look at the background to the incident and also the lesser known actual course of events. Why did the incident take place is the first question to be answered. It was well known that colonial exploitation was its height at this time and the British reveled in finding ways and means to augment their revenue especially that of the East India Company. The Middle Age The fall of the Roman Empire marked the beginning of a new age in the history of Europe and most historians refer to it as the Dark Ages or the Middle Age. The name Dark Age was given by the Italian scholar and poet Petrarch as during this time he felt Latin literature and art were declining. This has come under question as the name is used to denote the period from5th to 10th centuries where there were intermittent periods of intellectual advance and periods of lull. The Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was the longest war that the USA was involved in. Vietnam is a nation in South East Asia bordering the Indonesian peninsula. During the First World War the Japanese attacked it and wanting to free itself from the French colonial power and Japan HO Chi Minh inspired by communist ideals set up the Viet Minh or League of independence for Vietnam. Japan lost the war and backed out of Vietnam. Seizing this opportunity Ho Chi Minh wanted to set up a government independent of other countries. Emperor Bao Dai was in control of Vietnam at this time.
