Invention of Braille

The history of Braille All of us are aware that Braille is a system of reading and writing used by the blind the world over. Very few of us know how this came into existence and what uses it was put to in earlier times. The credit of discovering this system is given to Louis Braille a French educator and inventor. At a very young age Braille was interested in trying out the dot and letter method on material and one such experiment cost him his eyes. All along his parents tried to bring him up like a normal child. He had a great level of intelligence and his teachers were happy to help him. Chance knowledge of the Braille system used by French soldiers at night to communicate with each other at night was the start of the Braille system as we know it today. We share some of the lesser known and interesting facts about this astronomer. He was born in 476 A.D. and lived during the Gupta Age. It is a well known fact that this period was termed as the Golden period in Indian History and rightly so since most of the famous inventions and treatises on different subjects were written I this age. The Cuban Revolutionary Che Guevara was born in Rosario Argentina in a middle class family. Right from an early age he was interested in Marxist ideals. He enrolled to be a doctor but left it to travel. The sight of the majority of the people in South America moved him and he went back to complete his course in medicine so that he could help the down trodden. But as years passed by and his travels took him to different parts of South America he came to the conclusion that radical leftist and revolutionary ideas alone would help in the liberation of the South American people. The Indian Movie Moghul Dhundiraj Govind Phalke better known as Dadasaheb Phalke has the distinction of being the pioneer of the movie making industry in India. The video attempts to throw light on some of the lesser known and interesting facts about this great personality without whom the pleasures of watching films on the big screen may have never been a reality in India. Born in 1870 this film maker had a natural flair for doing things differently even as a student at the J.J School of Art as early as 1885. The national animal, tiger symbolises power; the national flower, lotus symbolises purity;the national tree, banyan symbolises immortality, the national bird, peacock symbolises elegance and the national fruit, mango symbolises the tropical climate of India. Similarly, our national song and national anthem were a source of inspiration during the freedom struggle. The national emblem of India depicts four lions standing back to back, symbolising power, courage, pride and confidence. Hockey was at its peak when it was adopted as the national game of India.
