Father of Indian Cinema

The Indian Movie Moghul Dhundiraj Govind Phalke better known as Dadasaheb Phalke has the distinction of being the pioneer of the movie making industry in India. The video attempts to throw light on some of the lesser known and interesting facts about this great personality without whom the pleasures of watching films on the big screen may have never been a reality in India. Born in 1870 this film maker had a natural flair for doing things differently even as a student at the J.J School of Art as early as 1885. At that tender age he experimented with special effects and learnt magic. He also met the German magician Carl Hertz who was one of the many magicians employed by Luminere Brothers.
