Father of Indian Cinema

The Indian Movie Moghul Dhundiraj Govind Phalke better known as Dadasaheb Phalke has the distinction of being the pioneer of the movie making industry in India. The video attempts to throw light on some of the lesser known and interesting facts about this great personality without whom the pleasures of watching films on the big screen may have never been a reality in India. Born in 1870 this film maker had a natural flair for doing things differently even as a student at the J.J School of Art as early as 1885. At that tender age he experimented with special effects and learnt magic. He also met the German magician Carl Hertz who was one of the many magicians employed by Luminere Brothers. The Middle Age The fall of the Roman Empire marked the beginning of a new age in the history of Europe and most historians refer to it as the Dark Ages or the Middle Age. The name Dark Age was given by the Italian scholar and poet Petrarch as during this time he felt Latin literature and art were declining. This has come under question as the name is used to denote the period from5th to 10th centuries where there were intermittent periods of intellectual advance and periods of lull. The Vietnam War was the longest war that the USA was involved in. Vietnam is a nation in South East Asia bordering the Indonesian peninsula. During the First World War the Japanese attacked it and wanting to free itself from the French colonial power and Japan HO Chi Minh inspired by communist ideals set up the Viet Minh or League of independence for Vietnam. Japan lost the war and backed out of Vietnam. Seizing this opportunity Ho Chi Minh wanted to set up a government independent of other countries. Emperor Bao Dai was in control of Vietnam at this time.
