The Life of Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King Junior Martin Luther King is famous for his speech I have a dream. He modeled his civil rights agitations in line with Gandhiji’s non violence and made huge inroads into the colour discrimination policy of the US government of that time. Here we look at some of the unknown and interesting facts about this great leader. Born on January 15th 1929 he took up being a Baptist minister and was always inspired by Gandhiji. He was a devout Christian and that added to his values of taking up the cause of the blacks who were very shabbily treated by the white counterparts in the US. He became a civil rights activist very early in life and led many rallies to bring to notice the racial discrimination taking place and it was in one such march that he went ot Washington and delivered his famous speech I have a dream. The Middle Age The fall of the Roman Empire marked the beginning of a new age in the history of Europe and most historians refer to it as the Dark Ages or the Middle Age. The name Dark Age was given by the Italian scholar and poet Petrarch as during this time he felt Latin literature and art were declining. This has come under question as the name is used to denote the period from5th to 10th centuries where there were intermittent periods of intellectual advance and periods of lull. The Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was the longest war that the USA was involved in. Vietnam is a nation in South East Asia bordering the Indonesian peninsula. During the First World War the Japanese attacked it and wanting to free itself from the French colonial power and Japan HO Chi Minh inspired by communist ideals set up the Viet Minh or League of independence for Vietnam. Japan lost the war and backed out of Vietnam. Seizing this opportunity Ho Chi Minh wanted to set up a government independent of other countries. Emperor Bao Dai was in control of Vietnam at this time.
