Eclipse – Its myths and realities Both solar and lunar eclipses over the years have had people rushing to astrologers to know how it would affect them. From being a scientific occurrence this had been transformed to a religious connotation. In this video we shall explore the myths as well as the scientific rationale behind the occurrence. From early times the solar eclipse has had different stories related to it but the common thread was that the disappearance of the sun was due to it being eaten up. Each culture had its own fables while one called it the demon devouring the sun others said it was the frog, dog etc . Fear of solar eclipses still exists today. The word photosynthesis can be separated to make two smaller words: “photo” which means light “synthesis” which means putting together Photosynthesis is the process by which plants make their own food. To make food, plants need not just one but all of the following: • carbon dioxide • water • sunlight Let’s take a look at how these are collected by plants. • Carbon dioxide from the air passes through small pores (holes) in the leaves.
