Diwali

The story Of Deepavali Deepavali or Diwali as it is popularly known is celebrated in all parts of India and in many other countries with a lot of joy and excitement. We shall have a look at the reasons that are given to celebrate this festival and also the various religious aspects involved. From ancient times this festival has been celebrated. IN the Mahabharata it is marked as the return of the Pandavas from exile and in the Ramayana it is the return to Ayodhya of Rama, Lakshman,Sita and Hanuman after the killing of Ravan. The subjects in both the epics showed their happiness on the return of their kings by decorating their homes with lights all along the path to make sure there was enough lightand bursting of crackers . The Middle Age The fall of the Roman Empire marked the beginning of a new age in the history of Europe and most historians refer to it as the Dark Ages or the Middle Age. The name Dark Age was given by the Italian scholar and poet Petrarch as during this time he felt Latin literature and art were declining. This has come under question as the name is used to denote the period from5th to 10th centuries where there were intermittent periods of intellectual advance and periods of lull. The Vietnam War was the longest war that the USA was involved in. Vietnam is a nation in South East Asia bordering the Indonesian peninsula. During the First World War the Japanese attacked it and wanting to free itself from the French colonial power and Japan HO Chi Minh inspired by communist ideals set up the Viet Minh or League of independence for Vietnam. Japan lost the war and backed out of Vietnam. Seizing this opportunity Ho Chi Minh wanted to set up a government independent of other countries. Emperor Bao Dai was in control of Vietnam at this time.
